The word ‘Lavani’ is derived from the word Lavanya, which means ‘beauty. Lavani aims to take various aspects of social life such as politics, religion, romance, etc. and present them in an entertaining form.
The tempo of the music and the dance is quite fast and the music is supported by the performers.
Learning Lavani at AM Dance Studio has its own perks. The crowd for a Lavani performance is quite energetic. The saree worn by the performers is longer than usual and is called a nauvari that measures 9 yards in length.
At times, even Males do perform this act.
AM Dance Studio takes special care in making sure this art form is preserved and practised as it should be.
